Summary / Role Purpose

Ansys, Inc. is seeking an Immigration Lead for its in-house Global Mobility and Immigration team. Thisposition is located at our headquarters office in Canonsburg, PA or may be a combination of remote and in office.The person will manage all US immigration cases and provide immigration advice using outside counsel where appropriate, including H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, PERM cases, labor certification, I-140, I-485, nonimmigrant/immigrant visas, and requests for evidence. This role will also include oversight of our global immigration program, including all global work permits in Canada, EMEA, and APAC.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to HR business partners, talent acquisition, foreign national employees, their managers, and other business stakeholders on U.S. immigration matters including frequently changing federal regulations, legal interpretations, and USCIS and DOL processing protocols through independent research and engagement with professional resources
  • Provide in-depth counsel with analysis of US immigration processes, identification of process and policy gaps, drafting of policy and process revisions and assist with the implementation of new or revised programs
  • Manage global work permit processes, including consulting with global immigration provider and local network partners, advising talent acquisition and country HR managers on immigration requirements, and updating employees, managers, and business stakeholders on case status
  • Provide consultations on the most complex and high-level matters to develop strategies to mitigate risk and provide timely solutions
  • Provide critical subject matter expertise for immigration issues arising in mergers and acquisitions, and manage transitions related to M&A activity independently and quickly
  • Work on immigration program management projects as needed, including process improvement endeavors
  • Manage outside immigration counsel and invoicing
  • Complete periodic reports for internal customers on immigration cases and costs for their employee populations, and independently analyze those reports to develop new strategies.
  • Direct the activities for obtaining green cards, including manager and employee education, case evaluations, and PERM recruiting

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 8 years working on employment-based US and global immigration matters
    • Experience should have been gained either in-house or in a law firm
    • Experience with both U.S. and global immigration experience is required
  • Experience in exercising independent judgment and discretion while utilizing company policies and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Experience in analyzing, revising, developing and enforcing company policies and practices relating to immigration
  • Attention to detail and accuracy and working with highly confidential data
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and independently manage a large volume of employee cases
  • Experience maintaining immigration files and documents to support all immigration activity and ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Experience handling and communicating about sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy
  • Experience preparing H-1B, TN, L-1, I-140, labor certification, and adjustment of status cases
  • Experience working with PERM recruitment
  • Experience working with global immigration matters

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or Business preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience working as an immigration paralegal at a law firm
  • Experience managing immigration invoicing and charging to appropriate business units.
  • Experience with LawLogix and SAP SucessFactors a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook)
