Cleveland Brothers, the largest Cat dealer in Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and western Maryland, has an immediate opportunity for a Construction Equipment Field Apprentice at our Clarksburg, WV location.

Cleveland Brothers Caterpillar Construction Equipment division is seeking highly skilled Diesel Technicians for service positions working on diesel engines and Construction equipment along with other supporting equipment.

The successful candidate must have relevant working experience and be able to operate, repair, rebuild, and maintain all types of earthmoving equipment. The successful candidate will assist Field Service Mechanics as needed or fill-in for them due to vacation or illness time off based on the Apprentice Field Service Mechanic's skills and abilities determined by management. The successful candidate must also have good human relations skills and abilities and the personality to successfully communicate and problem solve with customers. Customer satisfaction is of primary consideration.

The essential functions of this position include the following:

  • Train to independently and successfully diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain equipment in various environmental and working conditions
  • Utilize a laptop computer for information and diagnostic purposes.
  • Safely assemble and disassemble components and equipment according to the manufacturer's specifications
  • Accurately complete service reports and provide the details to complete work orders
  • Meet the Department of Transportation physical examination and licensing requirements as mandated by law
  • Work overtime as required and maintain tool requirements
  • This position will require overtime and possibly weekend work

This position requires a commercial driver's license. The successful candidate will be required to pass a drivers' physical and all applicable tests associated with driving a service truck. To be placed in this position, the successful candidate will have sixty (60) days to obtain both a Commercial Driver's License in order to drive the service vehicle and MSHA Certification, which is required for all field service positions.

As a Field Apprentice you are required to work in an industrial environment which includes exposure to significant environmental conditions. Physical requirements include:
- Overall stamina
- Sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing
- Carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, listening, and speaking
- Must have good motor coordination skills
- Coordination of eyes, hands, and feet
- Verbal intelligence, and numerical intelligence
- The workplace environmental conditions include subject to noise, heat, cold
- Injury exposures, and atmospheric exposures
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
