A Brief Overview
Under the general supervision of IT Audit management, the IT Auditor II (Senior Auditor) performs audits of moderately complex new and existing information systems to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of controls and compliance with corporate standards. Identifies opportunities to enhance the risk awareness of management and recommends best practice control techniques. Supports the processes for follow-up on the status of management's corrective action plan implementation and the update of the information systems audit universe and associated risk assessment.

What you will do

Audit Support (60%) --

  • Conducts information systems audit engagements (medium to high risk) covering IT general controls, application/operating systems, information security, system development life cycle, network performance, and disaster recovery in accordance with department and professional standards. For certain audits, oversee lesser-experienced staff in the execution of audit-related activities. Provide knowledge sharing, coaching and feedback to assist the development of lesser-experienced staff throughout the year. For each audit project or review, performs all planning activities and develops the associated test strategy for audit management's approval to ensure audit objectives are achieved. Prepares audit work papers in accordance with departmental and professional standards. Identifies and recommends opportunities to enhance controls or improve system operational performance. Drafts the audit report and leads meetings with DTS management. Additional tasks related to audit support include:
  • Performs periodic follow-up of previously reported information systems audit findings to assess the status of corrective actions taken by management.
  • Assists in maintaining the information systems audit universe and in executing the annual information systems risk assessment.
  • Assist the financial/operational auditors in assessing and testing information systems controls in applications being reviewed.
  • Assist in activities that support the department's Quality Assurance Improvement Program designed to ensure that appropriate documentation is in place to support its methodology and procedures, which promotes the department's ability to evaluate all aspects of IA activity and enables a comprehensive assessment of the IA function.

Continuous Auditing (20%) -

  • Investigate high risk transactions (potential duplicate payments, vendor master file changes, credit refunds, AR write-offs, etc.) identified by continuous auditing queries. Perform research on the transactions highlighted, determine root causes for any exceptions, and work with responsible operating management to recover funds or take other corrective action.

Quality Assessment Support (20%) -

  • Assist in activities that support the department's Quality Assurance Improvement Program designed to ensure that appropriate documentation is in place to support its methodology and procedures, which promotes the department's ability to evaluate all aspects of IA activity and enables a comprehensive assessment of the IA function.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or similar field of study Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years experience in information systems auditing, public accounting's computer audit specialist practice, and/or information system operations in a corporate or not-for-profit organization. Required
  • Healthcare experience or Public Accounting computer audit specialist practice experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Good working knowledge of internal control conceptual frameworks (e.g., COBIT, Hi-trust, COSO etc.) and the IIA's Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
  • Working knowledge of Lawson, EPIC, and Workday suite of software preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the systems development lifecycle, project management, IT general controls, and networking.
  • Possesses good project-management, interpersonal, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to work independently, identify opportunities, and assume responsibility.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) - Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) - within 18 months - Required
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) - International Information System Security Certification Consortium - - Preferred
