POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in the retail sector. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about its culture and its competition. The HRBP will be on site, in an office setting and may regularly visit retail establishments and will have a varying schedule outside of normal business hours.

Conducts regular meetings with the retail business unit management team which may include the President, Vice President, Area Managers or Store Managers.

Consults with line management, providing HR guidance to create an environment of continuous improvement in HR and within the retail sector by establishing new approaches to improve efficiency and morale.

  • Works closely with Area Managers and Store Managers to ensure the company is providing fairness and consistency companywide.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues.
  • Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Works closely with and communicates frequently with the Corporate Human Resources team to ensure consistency among practices for each store.
  • Collaborates with Corporate Human Resources to deliver HR solutions that help maintain a positive workplace.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructuring, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for the retail business unit and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Works closely with the Training Manager to evaluate and monitor training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Works closely with Corporate Security Manager in employee criminal investigations and assists with the recommended corrective actions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Payrate:$85,873 to $97,902 Annually

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues and conducting workplace investigations.
  • Experience advising leaders/management with strong influencing and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to mentor, coach and develop employees of all levels while encouraging a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Experience in a Retail HR role in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work flexible work schedule which may include weekends and hours after 5:00 pm
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Certified HR Professional or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience with ADP HRIS system is preferred
