JOB TITLE: Housekeeper

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The primary function of the housekeeper is that of maintaining the cleanliness and disinfection of the hospital in order to maintain a synergistic, harmonious and productive environment for patients, their families and fellow employees.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Graduate or GED preparation required.
  • Ability to relate and work effectively with others
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancement
  • Previous experience in cleaning/floor maintenance in a hospital environment is preferred
  • Is aware of professional standards and performs in accordance with them

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Move equipment as necessary to clean behind areas.
  • Cleans and disinfects all furniture and equipment with a germicidal solution and a clean cloth. This includes IV poles, suction canisters, doors, tables, and beds.
  • Clean each room thoroughly from ceiling to floor, including janitor closets.
  • Clean all AC vents.
  • Clean all walls.
  • Clean and disinfect all sinks, toilets, and countertops utilizing approved germicidal solutions.
  • Dust all surfaces, ledges, panels, etc.
  • Clean all windows.
  • Mop all floors utilizing approved germicidal solutions.
  • Clean all baseboards.
  • Vacuum all carpets.
  • Dispose of all trash.
  • Wipe all exterior surfaces with approved germicidal solutions.
  • List all supplies needed.
  • Ensure all housekeeping equipment is in working order.
