Assisting the business function and/or business excellence centers, as a Transportation and Logistics Specialist, you will ensure that goods are shipped while meeting quality, legal and costs parameters. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the NEMA Motor Division by actively contributing towards the execution and coordination of all daily activities within the traffic team.

Your responsibilities

  • Freight planning: Administer the strategic plan for the efficient movement of goods, considering various transportation modes including parcel, LTL (Less than Truckload), TL (Truck Load), rail, imports and exports.
  • Collaborate with carriers to negotiate rates, secure capacity and ensure timely pickups and deliveries while optimizing routing and scheduling to minimize costs and enhance overall transportation efficiency.
  • Freight pay: Coordinate the prompt and accurate processing of invoices in the freight payment process and validate carrier invoices against contractual agreements to promptly resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to maintain accurate financial records related to transportation expenses
  • Claims management: Oversee the claims process related to over, short and damaged (OSD) goods while investigating and gathering relevant information to support claim resolutions, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Data analysis and reporting: Lead the maintenance of master data pertinent to logistics activities and systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Know and understand the strategic KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) for the traffic team, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement
Your background

  • High School Diploma/GED with minimum 8 years of experience in transportation/logistics OR Associate Degree with minimum 6 years of experience in transportation/logistics OR Bachelors Degree with minimum 4 years of experience in transportation/logistics.
  • Preferred Experience Includes: Proficiency with SAP/GPC TMS (Transportation Management System), manufacturing experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Able to handle multiple tasks, changing priorities and perform well under pressure
  • Willing to attend leadership and continuing education classes
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would allow them to work for ABB in the US
