Job Description

Your Opportunity as the Sourcing Analyst, Packaging

Partners with suppliers and internal customers to maximize supply chain process efficiencies. This role will build relationships with Demand/Supply Planning, R&D, Marketing, Smucker plants, as well as suppliers. This individual should have an interest in supply chain with strong analytical and problem-solving skills while being able to effectively communicate with individuals both within and outside of the organization.

Location: Orrville, Corporate Offices

Work Arrangements: Hybrid, 30% in office expectations

In this role you will:

Support for Sourcing Managers

  • Provide analytical and system support for Packaging Sourcing Managers

  • Produce critical tactical and sourcing support to key packaging categories

  • Collect, organize, and interpret data to support in analysis and decision making

Logistics Support

  • Logistics support for supplier shipments and Smucker plant deliveries

Contract Administration support

  • Resolve invoice issues and discrepancies

  • Update and maintain the packaging pricing for all assigned categories

Supply Chain Management

  • Support in the resolution of raw material supply chain issues

Purchasing

  • Support Sourcing Managers in development, maintaining, and execution of sourcing strategies (using appropriate tools including industry analysis, supplier analysis, benchmarking, etc.)

  • Identify and mitigate risks for the business, such as market price hikes, sustainability legislation, supply chain risk, and quality issues

  • Manage and track cost savings and innovation projects

  • Support in the resolution of supply chain issues

  • Maintain data integrity within Packaging team through updates and collaboration with Procurement Operations and Procurement Excellence

  • Provide cross functional communication and alignment with customer/supply base

  • Support annual standard cost setting requirements and revise as business dictates

  • Daily management (PO administration, price variance, blocked invoices, etc.)

  • Facilitate communication between JMS plants and suppliers, including checking inventory, communicating pending packaging changes, and changes to the forecast

  • Other duties as assigned by Packaging Director and Sourcing Managers

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 1 year of Supply Chain support experience

  • Strong analytical process skills with the ability to evaluate data from multiple sources to make decisions or solve problems

  • Ability to establish personal credibility and exhibit strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Effectively collaborates with internal customers to gain agreement/support

  • Ethical, trustworthy, and dependable with focus on customer needs and objectives

  • Ability to work well with cross functional teams, outside suppliers, and other business partners; actively participates in meetings

  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MySmucker, Oracle, Spotfire, Prodika system, specification and data catalog systems)

  • Some business travel required

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:

  • CPG experience

  • Packaging experience

  • Business or Supply Chain focused degree
