What you'll do:

The Quality Technician position is responsible for facilitating various quality activities which includes but is not limited to identifying defects, facilitating containment, communicating with affected parties, monitoring defect rates on in-process and finished production units and assisting with the Problem-Solving process.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Practice and promote the company's safety standards and policies including reporting potentially unsafe conditions
  • Adhere to the company's code of ethics and policies
  • Evaluates defect data from audit stations to determine source of the issue
  • Creates Quality Alerts/Visual Aids/Boundary Samples and other tools/documentation for identified defects
  • Maintains posting, tracking, removal and archiving of Quality Alerts for assigned area
  • Reviews and collects nonconforming supplier material from assigned work area.
  • Communicates with suppliers concerning nonconforming material and executes the NCDR process.
  • Facilitates the containment process by reviews quality issues and associated parts/documentation with the production team to facilitate associate training and ensure containment/product expectations
  • Performs daily audits of posted Quality Alerts to verify containment effectiveness and identify gaps in implementation effectiveness at audit zones, special containment zones and at the source
  • Serves as a liaison between various functional areas to communicate information and follow-up on open actions
  • Collects, analyzes and publishes quality data to the Quality Engineering team and other affected team members
  • Provides recurring progress/status updates to team
  • Assists in collecting and summarizing layout and other measurement data for part evaluations
  • Works with internal and external sources to create inspection equipment such as gages, check fixtures and error-proofing equipment to facilitate problem solving
  • Performs qualification activities such as Gage R & R studies other applicable MSA studies
  • Works with the Metrologist to ensure initial and on-going calibration of quality tools
  • Updates applicable documentation such as Gage and Inspection instructions
  • Maintains boundary samples by ensuring appropriate tagging and replacement as needed
  • Facilitate documenting and implementing product deviations
  • Assist with quality activities related to Lean Projects, Special Projects and Automation Projects
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Practical Problem Solving and other quality processes
  • Prepare documentation and reporting requirements for the Quality Management system such as Layered Process Audits, Corrective Action Audits and Control of Non-Conforming Product
  • Assists with facilitating internal and external containment for internal and external supplier issues
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager

What you need to be successful:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent math skills with emphasis in statistics is preferred
  • Excellent attendance
  • Ability to use basic measurement and inspection toolsSelf-motivated with the ability to stay on task
  • Ability to read and understand Engineering documents such as part prints and assembly drawings
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic email, Spread Sheet, Word Processing Software; Mintab knowledge is a plus.400, Sparcon)
