DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The primary responsibility of this role involves actively engaging in public safety duties, which includes overseeing and leading a team of lifeguards responsible for patrolling, observing, directing, and monitoring activities at the Fuller Beach swimming area within Pine Grove Furnace State Park. The main objective is to maintain order and ensure the safety of all visitors enjoying the beach area.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal, full-time employment without benefits
  • Workdays: 5 of 7 days per week; 7 days/week operation..
  • Weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two seasons of experience as a Lifeguard (commonwealth title); or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • All employees must obtain a valid Lifeguard Certification or Lifeguard Management Certification issued by the American Red Cross, YMCA, United States Lifesaving Association, or other authority recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health within 14 days of employment.
  • All employees must obtain valid certifications in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR within 14 days of employment.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    1. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
  • In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal and Federal Criminal History Checks around the time of hire and thereafter every 5 years.
