CYF Caseworkers provide protective and supportive services for abused/neglected children and families and, depending upon assignment, provide counseling services to children, families, foster parents and/or adoptive parents. The Caseworker also participates in Conferencing and Teaming to help families with their plan goals including safety and self sufficiency, participates in crisis intervention where appropriate, and presents case facts and testimony in Children's Court.
New CYF Caseworkers work under the general supervision of a Casework Supervisor for a six month probation period and complete a ten-week curriculum consisting of both classroom and field work. New Caseworkers are responsible for working with a family from the point the family is referred to DHS/CYF until they are no longer involved with the agency
