Overview

CAES Lansdale is seeking a Principal RF Product Engineer whose main focus is to supporting the production of Antenna and integrated RF/microwave products. This represents the lifecycle from material acquisition through shipment, mainly focused on technical compliance and production efficiency. The products are of challenging complexity and center on spiral, horn, and other antenna types, and/or integrated RF/microwave electronic assemblies. A key aspect of Product Engineering work here at CAES Lansdale is to assist in the electrical aspects of product design evolution and overall production line productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Problem solve production issues related to electrical, mechanical, materials, and manufacturing aspects in a high product mix production environment.
  • Perform and coordinate production engineering support to maintain an operational production line; monitor key performance metrics such as yield, rework, waste, and labor to optimize yield, cost, throughput, and quality.
  • Perform technical analysis and feasibility studies for product design updates, new product introduction, and production proposals, including generating production readiness assessments and cost/technical proposals.
  • Evaluate specifications and product design targets including customer requirements, testing procedures, and drawing packages.
  • Act as a Technical Product Line Manager, exhibiting ownership of full production life cycle from material procurement to shipment, including interfacing with executive leadership and end customers.
  • Work closely with the core Engineering team and factory personnel to bridge the gap between the theoretical design world and the real-world to produce high performance products with reasonable production margin.
  • Team up with technicians and assemblers on test, tune, debug and optimization of RF product performance.
  • Assist in the reverse engineering, redesign, and design optimization of Antenna and RF products including computer/mathematical modeling, component, material and process selection, and mechanical layout and packaging.
  • Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices; maintain a clean and safe workspace.
  • Participate in Lean/Six Sigma activities to enhance cross-functional problem solving.

Qualifications

MINIMUM:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a Technical Field such as Engineering (BSEE, BSME, Industrial Engineering, Physics)
  • Minimum eight (8) years' working in an RF-product design or RF production environment
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance

PREFERRED:

  • Masters Degree in a Technical Field and minimum five (5) years' directly relevant experience
  • Active Security Clearance
  • Background in Defense Industry
  • Communication skills: ability to receive messages by telephone, in person, electronically and in writing; ask questions and rephrase statements to clarify meaning; ability to read, write, interpret and comprehend complex written technical publications; communicate quality, integrity and respect in a way that inspires others and encourages innovation and possibilities
  • Computer skills: working in networked environment using a Windows and or Windows like interface using PowerPoint, Excel, and Word software programs at an advanced level; experience in Engineering CAE/CAD tools such as LabView, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CREO, MWO, ADS, HFSS or equivalent EM tools, a plus
  • Math & Analytical skills: advanced mathematical skills, including statistical analysis; review and compare data to identify inconsistencies and determine priorities; ability to collect, analyze and summarize information to a general understanding; ability to think abstractly and separate complex ideas into simple elements

Salary Range: $115,000 - $174,000 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
