Arconic is currently in search of Senior Leader, Production to join our Spectrochemical Reference Materials based out of New Kensington, PA.

This position exists to manage the production of Arconic Spectrochemical Reference Materials (SCRM), with specific responsibility for the production schedule, casting, and machining operations, as well as tracking inventory and SCRM KPI's. This includes supervision of two technicians, working in the casting and machining areas. This position will be responsible for leading a strong safety culture aligned with the Arconic Corporation goals for Environmental, Health and Safety.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with sales team to understand orders and customer needs, develop production schedules to drive on-time delivery and quality.
  • Maintain ISO 9001 Quality system and ensure compliance to the quality system.
  • As part of our quality system, create and maintain SOPs and SWIs for all areas of responsibility.
  • Establish and manage a robust inventory process to maintain inventory levels while at the same time meet delivery expectations for custom standards.
  • Provide direct oversight and management of the production team, including 2 casting/machining technicians.
  • Provide charge calculations for all ingots cast that includes catalog and specialty certified reference materials.
  • Maintain adequate supplies (casting equipment, raw materials) to ensure timely production of standards.
  • Document monthly performance against KPIs for SCRM group.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements to the production equipment and within the manufacturing process enhancing safety and efficiencies.
  • Provide guidance to management on acceptance of customer orders for custom standards, evaluate target composition to determine if casting, machining, or metallurgical issues exist, and establish and/or review (if provided by customer) minimum and maximum casting specifications.
  • Provide guidance and input for the development of new products and/or improvement to existing processes to drive growth and increase overall profitability of the business.
  • Manage usage and relationship with outside vendors and suppliers.
  • Track and review manufacturing and inventory data necessary to support monthly closing activities.
  • Perform self-assessed audits for the Arconic ASAT process for SCRM.
Key Objectives
  • Knowledge of aluminum alloy compositions
  • Knowledge of aluminum alloying practices; element interactions
  • Expertise in aluminum ingot casting
  • Familiarity with standards certification process, including analytical techniques and their limitations.

Basic Qualifications
  • 10+ years' experience in an industrial, manufacturing environment
  • Experience supervising employees and daily work plans
  • Expertise in metal machining practices
  • Expertise in aluminum billet casting
  • Expertise in ISO 9001 quality system requirements
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Qualified candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the relevant government agency. Business demands may require employer to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science
  • Advanced computer skills with Excel spreadsheets, ability to perform and manipulate Oracle and LIMs queries
  • Collaborative leader who is open and willing to drive change in the pursuit of business outcomes and productivity
  • Strong detail orientation
