How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Product Applications Specialist, you will work closely with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Engineering and Technical Services and be the leading expert on how Patterson-Kelley products are applied in a various range of systems and incorporate with other pieces of equipment. In this role, you will also educate and train on a periodic basis to educate employees, representatives, engineers, and other customers on product lines.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Technical Supportand Collaboration

  • Be the leading expert on products and services.

  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Engineering and Technical Service to ensure the quality, safety & timely delivery of all new product developments.

  • Help create technical and sales documentation on a proactive basis which will be used by Sales, Marketing and Technical Service to provide the highest level of support possible.

  • Work with the Production Drafters to evaluate Change Requests (CR's) and provide input to the potential impact.

  • Help the Product Engineers develop sizing, pricing or application tools which will be used to help specify, apply and quote Patterson-Kelley equipment.

  • Provide technical information back to the Sales & Marketing Departments in the form of written specifications, manuals, application guides, etc.

  1. Customer Service & Continuous Improvement

  • Offer innovative solutions to technically complex problemsin applications both new and existing.

  • Periodic site visits with our representatives to analyze the reliability and user-friendliness of products.

  • Host presentations and training sessions on a periodic basis to educate employees, representatives, Engineers, and other customers on the product lines.

  • Operate on a proactive basis and help establish technical information that will be used to answer customer questions.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma

  • 3 or more years working for a HVAC equipment manufacturer or distributor or 3 or more years working in a technical support or sales role in the HVAC industry.

  • Combination of education and experience is considered.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comfortable working collaboratively within, and external to, with many employees in several different departments on a daily basis.

  • Highly motivated to provide project deliverables on time and be able to establish priorities when multiple deliverables coincide.

  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering technology or related field with 5 or more years of experience

  • Ability to write in a clear and concise manner.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data.

  • Knowledge and experience withMicrosoft Office software products including Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Outlook, Windchill PLM, and ERP (JD Edwards).

  • Mathematical skills: Algebra, Geometry & Trigonometry.

Travel & Working Environment

  • The ability to use a computer to communicate, create, and access information.

  • Driver's license and proof of insurance required.

  • Travel up to 40% domestically and may include overnight stays.
