Cardiology Department
The Cardiology Department provides diagnostic services to include the following: EKG's, Holter Monitoring, 2D-Echocardiography, 2D-Echo with stress, Trans esophageal Echo, and Treadmill Stress Testing. Our patient population consists mainly of adults with some pediatric patients. A Certificate of Accreditation has been received in Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography awarded by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories. Staffing is volume based on scheduled activities with a minimum ratio of one staff person per procedure. Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Emergency call is provided for those services with established guidelines for emergency exams.
Job Summary:
Performs all tests (except echocardiograms) in the Cardiology Department with technical accuracy. These include electrocardiograms, application of Holter monitors and Holter scanning. Must maintain competency in cardiac rhythms and associated life threatening arrhythmias. Must maintain current Basic Life Support/CPR certification. Patient population served includes any patient admitted from newborn to geriatrics.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
Performs electrocardiograms with technical accuracy and demonstrates a thorough understanding of the equipment. Performs Holter monitor application and scans Holter tapes with technical accuracy and demonstrates a thorough understanding of the equipment. Maintains competency in cardiac rhythms and life threatening arrhythmia's. Responds to Code Blue or Rapid Response. Processes reports as needed. Maintains equipment in the proper working order by routine cleaning and stocking of machines. Completion of Clinical Competency Validation.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Must attend and pass cardiac arrhythmia training class
3. Must obtain BLS within 90 days of hire
