Job Summary:
The Bindery Technician will assure the uninterrupted flow of production and
services provided by this department through the performance of a variety of duties as required and assigned by the print production team leader. Assignments will be made based on departmental production demands. Primary duties are focused on bindery operations including both digital print and wide format finishing.

Job Duties:

As a member of the PP&M team, all staff are expected to contribute positively toward fulfilling PP&M's mission of providing high quality print and mail projects for the campus community. Team members are active participants in providing feedback on process improvement, new technologies and ways to enhance, improve and support the department mission. Each member of the department is charged with keeping work areas neat, clean and safe. Staff members are encouraged and expected to take advantage of opportunities

  • Set up and operate a variety of bindery machines including, but not limited to,
    folders, staplers, paper cutters, perforators and binders, including wire-o, coil and prefect binding machines.
  • Operate wide format mounting and laminating equipment.
  • Receive incoming paper shipments.
  • Accurately calculate stock cutting requirements and cut paper to press-size sheets from folio sizes.
  • Carry out all operations in accordance with established production standards.
  • Assure the paper inventory is kept neat and orderly.
  • Perform general maintenance to the equipment in the bindery area.
  • Provide back-up coverage for other production activities within the department
  • Inspect work for quality control and pass it on to the next production station, or if complete, place in delivery area.
  • Perform other functions and work as assigned by the supervisor.

    Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in print production operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, possess strong customer service skills, a commitment to a collaborative team-based work environment, and possess strong verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Must possess a valid PA driver's license.

    Physical Demands:
  • Ability to routinely lift packages up to 75 pounds, with occasional heavier lifting, with mechanical assistance or help.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in environment with exposure to noise, dust, and fumes, and use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Must possess adequate vision to make judgments concerning the overall quality of finished products

    Salary Range:
    14.52-18.15

    The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.

    This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
