In this role, the employee is responsible for carrying out various technical tasks related to traffic engineering, specifically focusing on temporary traffic control on highways. This includes carefully examining highway design plans and permit applications to ensure that the temporary traffic control methods being proposed are appropriate and effective. Additionally, the employee conducts thorough reviews and consultations on work zone traffic control, keeping track of the results and conducting after-action reviews when necessary to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and publications. Furthermore, the employee takes the lead in developing comprehensive work zone traffic control training programs for both internal staff and external partners. Ultimately, the main objective of this position is to prioritize the safety of both the traveling public and the workforce deployed on the roadway.
