Job Purpose:

Basic Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analysis and decision tools to promote and implement changes in manufacturing, engineering and service operations. Develop models, data bases and spreadsheets to analyze data (e.g., statistics, operations research, engineering economics), and provide summary analysis and metrics as directed by higher level employees for consultation to customers (e.g., management, departments, suppliers) basic industrial engineering techniques and concepts to product and process design teams throughout all phases of product lifecycle. Research, design, develop, improve, and implement processes as directed to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, through the application of Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts for large scale systems integration and asset utilization.

The candidate must reside within the east coast to be considered for this position and requires frequent travel to customers and plants as needed.

Responsibilities

    Develop and evaluate production targets.
  • Conduct time studies to understand man and machine cycle times for development of standards.
  • Identify, evaluate and measure bottlenecks to make recommendations for improvement in efficiency and output.
  • Implement line balancing where needed, increasing the efficiency and utilization of resources.
  • Create standard work and or work instructions for clear instruction for the employee.
  • Develop, configure and optimize industrial processes from inception through implementation, as required.
  • Design, run, test and upgrade systems, processes and equipment to meet the needs of the business with respect to producing optimum output and quality of products manufactured.
  • Develop and maintain best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.
  • Problem Solving: Collects and analyzes data for the purpose of solving problems & making recommendations on matters that are important to the cost structure of the manufacturing operation.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities across operations by evaluation of people, material and equipment.
  • Lead and execute projects to optimize process by reducing waste in time, materials, energy
  • Design, develop and recommend/maintain manufacturing routings to maximize efficiency and space.
  • Complete the necessary plant layout work for efficient material and process flow.
  • Providing Information: Interprets data from a host of sources and creates concise and user-friendly charts, graphs, reports, and other modes of conveying information to diverse audiences. Must be able to tailor the mode and style of communications to best fit the target audience.
  • Financial Responsibility: In the role of team-leader or team-member on one or more teams, has responsibility for the attainment of team objectives which are usually translatable into financial measures. The IEs responsibility in this team framework also includes determination of and documentation of the financial goals.
  • Assist with the daily production reconciliation and reporting functions as required.
  • Sets priorities and allocates industrial engineering resources to support plant operations
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
  • Prefer a minimum of 5-10 years in manufacturing
  • Prior project management experience is a plus.
  • Must have experience developing and implementing standard work.
  • Must have demonstrated machine and equipment troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have experience in a GMP environment and experience with Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience working in an Operational Excellence Environment preferred
  • Clear understanding of Takt time and overall capacity evaluation of production processes.
  • Ability to work within budget and timescales
  • Proficient in Computer applications; specifically MS Office, AutoCAD, SAP system or other ERP systems.
  • Must be located on the east coast and willing to travel up to 50% of the time
