Temple University's Health Sciences Campus-Facilities Department is searching for a Stationary Engineer:

Tuesday to Saturday Shift 7:00a-3:00p Off Sunday and Monday

Hourly Rate: $36.20

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Engineer and HVAC Supervisor, the Stationary Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the various mechanical and building systems (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning [HVAC], compressed air systems, vacuum systems, fire alarm, and protection systems, etc.), ensuring occupant comfort and adequate services to the assigned campus buildings The Stationary Engineer is also responsible for monitoring the operation of various mechanical equipment on a regular basis and start, stop, operate, and/or dispatch the appropriate mechanical equipment necessary to maintain occupant comfort and adequate building services.

In addition to monitoring and accurately recording various mechanical equipment operating parameters (pressure, temperature, flow, etc.) and meter readings on a regular basis as required for equipment performance monitoring and regulatory recordkeeping compliance. The Stationary Engineer will perform the routine mechanical and electrical work necessary to maintain the various mechanical systems in working order and will start, stop, operate, and monitor the various mechanical systems in the assigned buildings through the utilization of the Building Automation System.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

***Must have a valid driver's license.***

Required Education and Experience:
*A minimum of three (3) years of experience in operating and maintaining HVAC and other building services in an industrial or educational campus environment.

*Experience performing maintenance and repair of various mechanical and electrical equipment types.

*Experience utilizing a Building Automation System for the operation of various mechanical and building systems.

*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Must be a graduate of one of the following:
*Vocational/technical school (2-year program) specializing in HVAC
*Or an accredited apprenticeship program in HVAC (4-5-year program)
*Or equivalent trade-specific military school(s) or equivalent corporate training program.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Must have a valid City of Philadelphia Engineer Grade A License or be eligible and successfully obtain a City of Philadelphia Engineer Grade A License within the first 120 days of employment.

*Ability to utilize personal computers and software (Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office applications, etc.) for routine daily tasks (reports, business communications, etc.) and to operate the Building Automation System.

*Ability to utilize expert knowledge of the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems in conjunction with a fundamental understanding of engineering principles involved to anticipate operational issues, troubleshoot problems that arise and take any corrective actions necessary to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the various building mechanical systems.

*Ability to read and understand equipment maintenance and repair manuals, mechanical system design drawings, diagrams, and other documentation as required to operate and maintain various building mechanical systems.

*Ability to perform routine mechanical and electrical work (including, but not limited to, draining and filling systems, aligning pumps, sealing ducts, bearing and equipment lubrication, installing and/or repairing insulation, replacing steam traps, pressure gauges, indicator lamps, damper seals, pump seals or packing, fan belts, motors, etc.) to maintain mechanical equipment in working order.

*Ability to understand engineering principles (thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, psychometrics, etc.) that pertain to the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning of buildings and the operation of other building services.

*Ability to perform the basic mechanical and electrical skills necessary for routine maintenance tasks.

*Knowledge of safe work practices (including PPE requirements for work assignments), applicable building codes, and government regulations including, but not limited to, NEC, OSHA, and NFPA70E.

*Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with all members of the Temple community, including but not exclusive to end users, supervisors, and coworkers.
