Summary:

The Assistant Director of Research Administration at the Fox School of Business, Temple University, plays a pivotal role in supporting the Office of Research and its research faculty and PhD students. Reporting to the Associate Director of Research Administration and working closely with stakeholders including the Associate Dean of Research and the Managing Director of the Translational Research Center (TRC), this role encompasses diverse responsibilities to ensure the smooth functioning of research-related activities at the Fox School.

The Assistant Director provides financial oversight, event management, administrative research support for research faculty and PhD students. Financial responsibilities include reconciling budgets, monitoring PhD student travel allocations and expenses, processing various research-related financial transactions, and overseeing budget compliance for awards. The Assistant Director will also play a significant role in planning and executing in-person and virtual events, collaborating with external partners, and developing event-related materials.

Research support is a crucial aspect of the role, involving managing appointments for visiting research scholars and post-doctoral students, handling contractual and MOU requests, maintaining a repository of templates, and contributing to the management of research impact measurement processes. The incumbent will oversee the editorial and publishing process for the electronic Fox Business Review and assist in creating and maintaining research summaries on the Fox School Knowledge Hub.

In addition, the Assistant Director provides lead administrative, budgetary, and event support for the Translational Research Center (TRC), including processing of financial transactions, logistical coordination, and collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team.

The Assistant Director of Research Administration will be instrumental in fostering efficient operations, supporting impactful research, and facilitating successful events within the Fox School of Business. This role requires strong financial acumen, event management skills, research process facilitation, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders. By contributing to the growth and success of the research centers, the Assistant Director will help enhance the academic community at the Fox School of Business, Temple University.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and at least three years of directly related experience, including programmatic and administrative support, operations and budget management, and/or digital marketing or publication experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

*Demonstrated advanced skills with the Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn and utilize web management software and Temple systems, including but not limited to those for procurement, contract management, expense processing, event registration, and student hiring.

*Demonstrated project management, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects independently and concurrently with varying timelines and priorities.

*Knowledge of planning, production, and management of events

*Strong customer service skills and ability to understand and assess needs.

*Strong interpersonal skills and interact effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and external constituents including corporate executives.

*Demonstrated ability to work and communicate as a team player across multiple levels.

*Demonstrated program and systems planning and management skills

*Ability to work occasional nights and/or weekends, if necessary.

*Experience organizing and maintaining effective data and document flows

*Knowledge of digital formats, including mobile, web, email, and on-demand materials

*Experience communicating regularly and effectively with key stakeholders.

*Experience working closely with a variety of stakeholders and functions

*Experience developing, troubleshooting, improving and maintaining administrative processes

*Experience planning and coordinating events

*Experience developing and reconciling budgets and maintaining reliable financial reports

*Experience with an enterprise management system such as Banner

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
