The BVH nursing administrator provides clinical and training consultation to the leadership and staff at the bureau's six long-term care facilities. Our nursing administrators have a direct influence on the quality of care to the resident veterans and their spouses by ensuring that clinical staff possess the competencies required to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of our residents.
Duties include serving as the point of contact for clinically oriented, technical, and training matters for the BVH. Also, you are responsible for developing, administering, and reviewing a certification process that reflects current standards of competent performance in clinical assessment and care planning. In addition, you interpret regulations, laws, standards of care, policies, and procedures as they are related to long term and personal care, including nursing and quality services as well as ancillary services.
Other duties include onsite visits to assess policies and procedures, resident medical records, care plans, MDS submission, medication error rates, wound reports, infection trends, restorative nursing programs, and the QAPI program. You also perform unannounced onsite audits to inspect all areas and disciplines to assist in correcting deficiencies and preparing for any agency inspections supporting the six veterans homes.
