National Field Medical Leader- Acute Care Franchise

Reporting to the Executive Director, Scientific Affairs [Acute Care Lead], we are seeking a passionate, patient-centric, talented field medical lead for the anticipated launch of a Phase III asset in refractory status epilepticus. As the US National Field Medical lead, you will play a critical role in developing and executing the pre-launch and launch strategies. You will build and manage a growing, high-performing team of field-based regional medical directors ("Medical Science Liaisons"). This is a high visibility position responsible for determining and executing the Scientific Affairs field strategy.

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Lead, recruit, train, and develop a team of field-based regional medical directors ("Medical Science Liaisons") to ensure high performance and retention.
  • Develop and implement strategic Scientific Affairs field plans and objectives, oversee their execution, and manage associated budgets, providing meaningful reporting on Scientific Affairs field activities.
  • Maintain an organizational infrastructure with appropriate geographical distribution for the Scientific Affairs field team, ensuring robust training and monitoring team performance.
  • Lead the identification and interactions with KOLs and regional influencers in designated disease areas and/or geography.
  • Oversee scientific exchange with the external medical community, formulary decision makers, and payers, ensuring balanced communication of medical and scientific information on pipeline programs and marketed products.
  • Drive expansion of research, advisory, and educational partnerships with the external medical community.
  • Direct field-based Scientific Affairs attendance and coverage at congresses and meetings, contributing to meeting planning efforts and execution.
  • Monitor the competitive environment in therapeutic areas, providing feedback on initiatives to the cross functional leadership team.
  • Ensure alignment of the Medical Affairs field team with wider organizational goals and maintain policies and processes to guide compliant practices in HCP interactions.
  • Participate as key member of core launch team, meeting deadlines and providing deliverables related to the launch plan.
  • Partner with the clinical development and operations team on the clinical trial execution.
  • Appropriately collaborate with the Market Access team to ensure strategic alignment and execution in engaging healthcare decision-makers and payers as it relates to medical/clinical and health economic and outcomes research data scientific exchange.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Doctorate-level degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, DNP) or Advanced Professional degree (PA, NP) with significant clinically relevant experience required
  • Minimum 12 years of combined experience in clinical and pharmaceutical/biotech industry required
  • Previous experience as regional field medical lead including the development and management of a Medical Affairs field team
  • US medical affairs strategy in hospital products strongly preferred, neurology and/or critical care experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of the payer/formulary decision-maker engagement strategies
  • Ability to set strategy, assess performance, and drive excellence while motivating and influencing teams
  • Experience in Product Launch Development and Execution
  • Full understanding of compliance related to interactions with HCPs, along with knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory guidelines governing Medical Affairs field-based activities
  • Minimum travel up to 40% nationally, required based on business needs

Compensation Range and Benefits:

For this role, the anticipated base salary range: $255,000 - 285,000 based on the candidate's professional experience level. The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to skills, education, and experience.
