THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Lycoming County, PA is looking for a Welder! Your expertise in welding techniques and attention to detail will contribute to the smooth operations of our vehicles and infrastructure. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Welder, you will perform a variety of skilled trades duties in the repair of parts, structural welding of bridge members' repairs to frames on equipment, hitches, plows, fabricates repair parts and body parts for a variety of applications while maintaining a safe working area and maintaining safe work practices. This includes welding, brazing, soldering, and cutting metal using arc, acetylene, or mig welders. You will also operate power hand tools, air tools, and motorized equipment while carrying out welding and fabrication tasks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.


Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Post-Employment Requirement:
  • Must have or be willing to obtain the welding certification to be able to weld on bridges within the six-month probationary period.
