For over 40 years, Manchester Industries, a Clearwater Paper Company, has demonstrated a passion for providing packaging and paperboard solutions to our customers. Manchester's five strategic locations ensure speed to market and a high-quality product. With a total of fourteen precision sheeters, three slitter rewinders, five guillotines, and four carton packing lines, we have the capacity to produce over 170,000 tons of finished product for the marketplace. We maintain an average daily inventory of over 16,000 tons to meet the demands of our customers providing "Just in Time" service for customer needs.

The city of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania is a progressive city with industrial roots. Located along the beautiful Susquehanna River, Wilkes-Barre is a keystone of Northeastern PA. Conveniently situated in the tri-state area, Wilkes-Barre offers easy access to major highways and airports and is located only 2 hours from New York City and Philadelphia. Wilkes-Barre is also just a short drive to the beautiful Pocono Mountains. Wilkes-Barre offers a gorgeous park system including Kirby Park and Coal Street Park which includes several outdoor recreational amenities like playgrounds, pavilions, picnic tables, basketball courts, and multi-purpose fields. A newly renovated River Common area is located along the river and includes an outdoor amphitheater, walking corridors,

a boat launch, and seasonal concerts and festivals. Wilkes-Barre hosts a Farmer's Market from late June to October each year bringing fresh produce, homemade food, crafts, and music downtown each week. The Fine Arts Fiesta is a week-long festival on the Square with live performances and art exhibits to enjoy. There are several opportunities to become involved in the community including the United Way, Harvey's Lake Area Little League, the American Red Cross, and the Disabled American Veterans organization. Wilkes-Barre offers a robust school system with K-12 schools and a STEM Academy. Wilkes University, Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Kings College, and Franklin University are just a few competitive local universities.

We offer competitive starting pay with increases after 6 months and 12 months of employment, with good performance. Shift differential for working 2nd and 3rd shifts. Benefits eligibility as of the 31st day of employment.

What you will do
The Shift leader is responsible for the safety, quality, and production of the shift team, and may fulfill a position within the crew or backfill in various positions as business needs dictate. They will also be responsible for team members' "on-the-job" training and maintaining accurate work procedures and practices. The Shift Leader is also expected to be a model for consistency, work ethic, attitude, behavior, overtime, and a person who gives reliable feedback to the Production Manager for work-related issues in the plant. The Shift Leader works without supervision and communicates effectively with Team Members.

  • Ensure a safe work environment and practices.
  • Ensure general plant cleanliness and organization.
  • Employee training in all Production positions.
  • Ensure accurate work procedures and practices.
  • Direct Team Members regarding proper job performance.
  • Direct Team Members to comply with company policies.
  • Promote continuous improvement and teamwork.
  • Monitor area supplies and inform the supervisor if levels become low.
  • Communicate with Maintenance about any machine or building issues.
  • Assist with scheduling and ensure orders are completed for on-time delivery.
  • Assist shipping and receiving (2nd and 3rd shifts responsible for inbound and outbound).
  • Cover scheduled and unscheduled time off.
  • Cover any positions needed for breaks and lunches.
  • Direct Team Members during shift start-up meetings.
  • Act in a manner consistent with company values and attitudes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.

What you will need
To be successful in this position, we are looking for candidates with the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required)
  • Minimum 2 years continuous full-time work experience (required)
  • Industrial production or operator experience (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Able to perform and understand basic mathematical calculations.
  • Able to read and use a tape measure.
  • Understand and comply with all manufacturing safety procedures including personal protective equipment (required)
  • Able to work in a physically demanding environment including temperature extremes, loud noise, avoiding slipping, tripping, and falling hazards.
  • Physically capable of manual labor that includes bending, walking, sitting, and climbing in and around machinery and equipment for an entire 8-hour shift.
  • Able to lift, up to 40 lbs. frequently, between 40 and 50 lbs. occasionally, over 50 lbs. minimally. When lifting 50 lbs. and above, team lifting, and overhead crane assistance will be used.
  • Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.
  • Able to work an 8-hour rotating shift including nights, weekends, and Holidays. Able to work overtime as needed.
