Job Description

The College of Arts and Sciences at Widener University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track teaching professor position to teach courses in the first-year writing program as well as the interdisciplinary first-year seminar (ASC 101 Thinking Through), the gateway course to the university's Foundations and Transformations general education program required of all incoming students. The course load is 4/4 (12 credit hours per semester).

Appointment begins in August 2024.

Responsibilities: Faculty members holding this position will be responsible for teaching:

  • introductory writing courses (ENGL 101: English Composition; and ENGL 115-127:

Writing About Literature)

  • the foundational course for Widener's general education curriculum (ASC 101: Thinking Through).

Qualifications:

  • a terminal degree in English or a closely related field is preferred. MA degree holders will be considered.
  • two years of experience teaching first-year writing.
  • a commitment to undergraduate education (especially first-year general education courses).
  • a commitment to fostering an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.
