The primary purpose of this position is to perform all necessary state and federal inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, reefer units and heavy equipment.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Complete preventive maintenance on tractors and trailers as required by state, federal and internal procedures
* Diagnose and repair the following tractor components: air system, electrical system, steering, brakes, air conditioning
* Diagnose and repair the following trailer components: air system, electrical system, brakes, undercarriage, suspension, and trailer structure
* Diagnose and repair reefer unit including refrigeration
* Change or repair tires or coordinate with vendor
* Keep work area neat and clean
* Abide by all company policies and governmental regulations
* Responsible for DOT/OSHA/EPA record keeping as pertaining to the shop and equipment as necessary
* Coordinate road breakdowns with company equipment while on duty
* Responsible for snow removal of yard and scraping of trailers during weather events


QUALIFICATIONS

* Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
* Must be able to communicate and understand company policies and safety regulations in order to complete job duties in a satisfactory manner
* Must meet the ergonomic and physical requirements, as well as the physical base scores for this position, with or without reasonable accommodation
* Must be able to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools used to perform this job
* Must meet the company performance standards for the job including but not limited to regular attendance.
* Complete understanding of tractors, trailer and reefer units
* Understanding of State and Federal DOT regulations
* Understanding of diagnostic systems (Cummins, Bendix, etc.)
* Proficient in EAM maintenance software
* PA State Inspection and Federal DOT inspections
* Refrigeration operation
Mechanical and electrical systems
* Operation of power tools and welding equipment
* Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* Shift Hours: 10-hour shifts or more depending upon business needs
* Job Cycles: Continual Max
* Lift/carry: 50 lbs.
* Stand 55%, Sit 0%, Walk 45%
* Category IV: Lifting, carrying, P/P up to 50 lbs.
* Max Pull static: 20 lbs.
* High level of physical work both indoors and outdoors
* Stooping, kneeling, and climbing to 15 feet

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

* Team members are responsible for understanding company policy and procedures as promulgated in the policy and procedure manual and the team member handbook
* High school diploma or GED; technical school preferred
* At least 3 years of experience as a qualified diesel or heavy equipment mechanic
* Class A CDL
* EPA 608 Refrigeration Certification
* PA State Inspection License
