Job Summary

TYLin City Solutions is looking for an Intelligent Transportations Systems (ITS) Engineer to join our Philadelphia based team. We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated professional who has experience working with state DOTs and other local/ federal agencies.

TYLin City Solutions projects involve the design of ITS systems such as CCTV cameras, Variable Message Signs, Count stations, Fiber Communication, Transit Signal Priority, Traffic Signal Design and Traffic Management Center for domestic and international projects. Projects often involve concept of operation (ConOps), conceptual design, final design, and preparation of construction drawings for ITS Systems. These projects require a thorough understanding of transportation engineering and ITS with construction support activities, smart mobility, connected vehicles and emerging technologies to support transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Assist senior-level staff in planning, designing, and implementing technology solutions for transportation issues.

  • Provide engineering support on ITS and Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) projects, including planning, engineering, design, integration, deployment, operations and maintenance, communications, and overall management.

  • Assist with projects related to ITS program management and oversight, Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O), Advanced Transportation Management Systems (ATMS), Transportation Management Centers (TMC), Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS), Managed Lanes, Automated Connected Electric and Shared (ACES) vehicle technologies, and associated performance measures.

  • Design of central/field communications, traffic control equipment, communications devices, traffic controller hardware and software, transit signal priority, CCTV cameras, DMS, traffic detectors, and electronic tolling equipment.

  • Assist in the development of ITS infrastructure, traffic signal, and integration of traffic control systems.

  • Assist in managing the fiber-optic traffic signal communications network, CCTV system, developing standard operating procedures for server data backups.

  • Address technical questions/issues.

  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of project deliverables.

  • Prepare technical proposals.

Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical, Civil, or other related Engineering fields

  • Must have 3 - 6 years of experience working on related technology-based projects

  • Familiar with System Engineering, ConOps and ITS standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity in signal timing, ATSPMs, and adaptive traffic control systems

  • Experience working with state DOTs, and other local agencies

  • Registered Professional Engineer, preferably in PA, NJ, NY, DC, MD, or VA.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software
