We are seeking a Drug and Alcohol Therapist to join our team to support the Recovery Through Work (RTW) Program in Philadelphia, PA.

Earn $25.51/hr!

Parkside Recovery is a nationally recognized Opioid Center of Excellence dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support to individuals on their journey to recovery. Our multidisciplinary team is committed to delivering evidence-based therapies and personalized treatment plans to address the complex needs of persons in recovery (PIR). Parkside Recovery is situated across the street from Fairmount Park and close to the Please Touch Museum, offering gated parking.

Position Details

With support from Pennsylvania CareerLink, RTW assists individuals in recovery to find a sense of self and purpose through pursuing educational and career goals. The program supports individuals by meeting vocational goals either through one-on-one assistance or through a structured 5-week prevocational training.

The Drug and Alcohol Therapist will play an integral part in the RSW program by:

  • Managing a caseload of individuals and knowing their treatment progress, engagement level, and treatment needs.

  • Assessing individuals and recommending appropriate services based on clinical needs.

  • Meeting with participants as needed to assist with resume writing, computer literacy skills, and applying to jobs and/or training programs.
  • Providing Brief Solutions-Focused Therapy as needed to support mental health challenges that may impact success related to meeting employment-related goals.
  • Facilitating biweekly Alumnae Support groups based on identified topics as well as open topics.
  • Communicating with the Supervisor, Case Managers, and Certified Peer Specialists on individual needs and as resources are obtained and/or changed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or higher in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, psychology, addictions studies, social work or related field with specialty or concentration in counseling.
  • At least 1 year of experience with the drug and alcohol population is preferred.
  • LPC Licensure supervision may be provided.
  • Must be comfortable commuting between three site locations in Philadelphia (West Philadelphia, Germantown, and Greater Northeast Philadelphia) as needed per the current cohort cycle and scheduled appointments.
  • Strong clinical skills with above average demonstration of core clinical competencies: attending, active and reflective listening, use of open-ended questioning, focusing, building rapport while maintaining professional boundaries, congruency, summarization, managing silence, empathy, rolling with resistance, supporting self-efficacy, managing confrontation, and developing discrepancy.
