Job Description:

SUMMARY

Research and Development management position responsible for technology and team leadership, project management and tracking, and personnel development to facilitate and drive product development from concept to commercialization. The successful candidate will be a productive scientist with exceptional capabilities to deliver against technical objectives as well as demonstrated communication, supervisory, and team-building skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

40% Lead and drive a segment of R&D projects and project management processes. Involves leading technical teams and providing technical direction for major projects and programs critical to the organization.

20% Establish close relationships with other corporate teams, plant operations, and customers to assist with product and process issues and rapidly provide workable solutions.

20% Foster and develop novel concepts and product innovations by leveraging knowledge and experience, applying to SGI market needs, and establishing technical proofs of concept and business cases.

20% Manage performance and development of technical staff in support of delivering on technical and company objectives.

Education / Experience

  • PhD in relevant scientific or engineering disciplines, with a minimum of 10 years of industrial laboratory / R&D experience leveraging similar technologies, including 5 years of supervisory experience, or

  • MS in relevant scientific or engineering disciplines, with a minimum of 12 years of industrial laboratory / R&D experience leveraging similar technologies, including 5 years of supervisory experience, or

  • BS in relevant scientific or engineering disciplines, with a minimum of 15 years of industrial laboratory / R&D experience leveraging similar technologies, including 5 years of supervisory experience.

Travel requirements: Domestic up to 20%

Budget responsibility: No

Working conditions: Primarily industrial R&D laboratory and office setting, requiring eye, hearing, hand, foot, and respiratory PPE. Occasional duties at manufacturing locations may be performed in enclosed facilities and/or outdoor areas where extremes of heat, cold, dust, noise, wet conditions and rough terrain exist

Physical requirements: Computer, MSHA / OSHA, lifting objects up to 40 lbs., extended or irregular hours, bending, kneeling, stooping
