Position Summary

The Youth Engagement Specialist (YES) is responsible for supporting the emotional/behavioral needs of students within the Day School program. The YES will work with classroom teams, individual students, and groups of students as needed throughout the day.

Specific services as a Youth Engagement Specialist include supporting the classroom teams and ancillary staff with de-escalation, intervention support and pro-active crises support. The YES is available to support staff in identifying appropriate interventions and support for students throughout the program. The Youth Engagement Specialist will be trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and will work as a part of the Day School team.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. To assure the effective provision of individual/group intervention to students.
  2. To assure that interventions are monitored for their effectiveness and that all services are appropriately documented.
  3. To ensure that the Youth Engagement Specialist develops positive working relationships with building staff and students.
  4. To assure adherence to organization's quality standards.
  5. To assure the continuous safety of all students.
  6. To assure the continuing development of professional skills.

Qualifications

  • Clearances. State Police; FBI clearance; child abuse clearance; CPSL Mandated Reporter-Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training; any additional background checks/clearances required by state governing bodies.
  • Valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance.

Work Conditions

  • Physical Demands. Requires vision, speech, and hearing. Moderate to high level of physical activity.
  • Environmental Factors. Indoor/Outdoor: School Building.
  • Working Hours. As assigned.
        Qualifications

        Education
        Associates of Human Services (preferred)
        High School (required)

        Experience
        At least one year of experience in human services field preferred OR at least one years experience in a job that involved direct contact with children or adolescents (required)
        Experience working directly with children or adolescents and deescalating situations. (preferred)
