OVERVIEW:
The purpose of the Home Equity Assistant Manager position is to provide training, leadership, and direction to the Home Equity Team consisting of Underwriters and Home Equity Specialists. This position has minimal budgetary responsibility, has limited supervision of work and requires a significant degree of creativity in order to solve complex problems related home equity loans.
The Home Equity Assistant Manager is responsible for managing and directing a team of Underwriters and Home Equity Specialists, managing department talent, underwrite complex home equity loans/lines, render credit decisions, and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, managing and coordinating daily operations of the Home Equity Team, ensure team success of efficient processing, loan quality, productivity, expected turn times, accurate closings, and regulatory compliance for Home Equity Fixed Rate Loans, Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOC), and Land Loans, and participating in the revisions of current home equity loan policies and procedures. This role also selects, coaches and develops, and retains staff, and performs credit analyses to assess risk, and assists with overseeing compliance with program reporting specifications.
EDUCATION:
* General and business knowledge equivalent to a high school diploma
EXPERIENCE:
* 5 to 7 years of home equity lending including regulatory compliance requirements and 2 to 4 years of home equity underwriting
CERTIFICATIONS:
* Required to register and maintain a unique identifier with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) in compliance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 ("SAFE Act"). This must be renewed on an annual basis from November 1 to December 31. Must also record any changes (name, address, or any outdated or inaccurate information) within 30 days with the NMLS Registry
