Job Description
What You Will Do:

Our Geotechnical Practice is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Pittsburgh, PA office. This individual will assist in the investigation, analysis, design and construction observation of a wide variety of projects including transportation, water resources, and mining.

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will provide strong transit and transportation geotechnical services with a focus on foundations for bridges and guideways, earth retaining structures, and tunnels. This candidate should be very strong technically and have marketing and business development experience.

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Design and analyze shallow and deep foundations for highway and transit bridges and guideways, earth retaining structures, and tunnels
  • Perform analyses for: stability and seepage of earthen embankments, settlement estimates, foundation underpinning, lateral earth pressure for retaining walls, pavement design and rockfall protection
  • Assist in the planning of subsurface explorations and laboratory testing investigations
  • Preparation of geotechnical engineering reports, design drawings, and specifications
  • Provide construction observation support during the construction phase of various projects
  • Assist in preparation of geotechnical cost proposals
  • Assist with marketing and business development efforts
Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required; Master's Degree with a Geotechnical focus preferred.
  • Professional Engineer license in California or Arizona or ability to obtain professional registration within 6 months of hire date
  • 15-25 years of geotechnical experience with an emphasis on transit and transportation
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is preferred; experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Experience with geotechnical software including: STABL, Slope/w, Seep/w, Sigma/w, LPILE, GROUP, PYWALL, CRSP, Plaxis and gINT is preferred
  • Field experience with construction observation activities such as micropile and drilled shaft installations, soil nail walls, earthwork and shoring is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Experience with marketing and business development
