Job Description

Hill International is seeking a Construction Inspector in Downingtown, Pennsylvania


  • Responsible for providing daily inspection of construction work within a given discipline to ensure the project is in compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Document the work being performed each day including staff and equipment on site.
  • Be proactive and alert project management professionals to issues that may come up in the field and provide solutions to mitigate those problems.
  • Observe and verify construction work conforms with the approved plans, specifications, and contract provisions.
  • Witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils and other materials.
  • Must be able to document the work via the daily inspection report and various other reports utilizing a provided iPad.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience).
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and procedures.
  • Strong Computer Proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable motor vehicle.
  • Previous experience working on PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike highway and/or bridge projects is preferred.
  • Preferred but not required certifications - NICET Highway Construction, ACI Concrete Field Technician, PennDOT concrete, NECEPT Bituminous Field Technician.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be physically able to perform moderately strenuous tasks which includes walking along rough terrain, climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Work hours may include day and/or night shift work, and weekends, based on the type of operation taking place.
