The Medical Assistant Float assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the physician. The Medical Assistant Float, though based with a "home" department, can be called at any time to travel to another practice location to provide coverage which covers Lexington as well as cities surrounding. Areas of clinical practice include patients of all ages in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Neurology and Specialties such as Cardiology/OB/GYN etc. Though most coverage will be needed for the clinical area, the Float may also cover Patient Access areas of the front office or perform other administrative duties if needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency plus:
  • Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information, plus.
  • Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate to be received within 90 Days
  • Must have own reliable, independent transportation days, plus one of the following
  • Prior working experience in a medical office/clinic performing clinical MA duties.
  • Or a Certified MA from the National Health Career Association (NHA).
  • Or completed any MA education program, but has not received certification as of yet.
    • Upon hire these disciplines will be assessed for clinical competency and be required to successfully complete an MA orientation | externship as well as complete any additional training as required by the Provider.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program with current certification/registration from AAMA/AMT or NCCT.

  • Graduate of an approved practical nursing program with current Kentucky LPN Licensure.

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program with current Kentucky RN Licensure.

  • Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate.

  • Computer skills preferred.
