Overview (Scope of Role)

The Improvement Engineer is focused on process improvement projects aimed to positively impact the safety, cost, quality, reliability and capability of the business assets. This role will collaborate closely with the plant technical team, operations, reliability, corporate support functions and engineering consultants to provide engineering support to the production department.

This is an onsite role in Louisville, KY. Expected schedule is M-F with flexibility to work during off-hours as needed.

Responsibilities
    Support optimal performance of the production process including collaborating with other manufacturing sites.
  • Collect and analyze technical data including asset utilization performance utilizing sound engineering judgment and statistical methods.
  • Collaborate with the technical, operations and reliability teams to identify improvement opportunities to positively impact the plant's safety, cost, quality, reliability and capability.
  • Participate in safety, reliability and quality improvement teams.
  • Lead and contribute to small capital projects and non-capital projects for process improvement, reliability and capability expansion.
  • Support commissioning of projects including generating operating procedures and conducting operator training.
  • Guide and participate in quality and process upset investigations including root cause analysis.
  • Perform preliminary safety analyses and participate in Process Hazard Analyses reviews.
  • Support new product development with production trial coordination and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct and use Management of Change process to document and control process changes.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering required.
  • 3-5+ years experience in manufacturing, production or project engineering preferred.
  • Experience in leading improvement engineering projects within a manufacturing environment; understanding of continuous improvement processes.
  • Chemical Manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication as well as strong presentation and organizational skills are essential.
  • Ability to work autonomously; occasionally requiring additional support from more senior colleagues with some periodic checking by leadership.
