Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President (VP) of Development, TJU and Planned Giving, the Director of Development (DoD) will solicit individual donors and prospective donors for major gifts to the University and its priorities. Fundraising activities include, identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of alumni, prospects and donors. The DoD works with the Assistant VP of Development (AVP) and VP) to provide strategic vision and leadership necessary to build upon the strengths of an established alumni fundraising program and to increase the visibility and impact of the program across the enterprise

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • In collaboration with the AVPs and Vice President, TJU and Planned Giving, the DoD will support the priorities of TJU and develop a comprehensive understanding of a major gifts plan to support the University and its priorities.
  • Maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects, maintaining frequent and consistent contact with prospects, department leaders, and key members of Jeffersonrsquo;s administrative leadership. Maintain and manage this portfolio in a manner that fosters a relationship that leads to philanthropic commitment and understanding of a donorrsquo;s philanthropic intentions.
  • Partner with the Alumni Relations team to identify and engage key alumni in assigned territories and maximize the impact of events and alumni programming to cultivate and steward prospects and donors.
  • Work collaboratively with the Planned Giving team to create a robust planned giving program for grateful patients.
  • Work with Jeffersonrsquo;s events staff and development officers to maximize major gifts efficiently and utilization of special events and other activities to cultivate and steward major gifts prospects and donors.
  • Work with communications and strategic writing staff to translate strategic initiatives and programmatic/capital needs into persuasive proposals and compelling major gift opportunities.
  • Work with the Annual Giving team to build an effective alumni annual fund solicitation plan and maximize alumni volunteer engagement efforts.
  • Maintain regular communication and relationships with university staff, faculty, and administrators to understand funding priorities and build partnership around fundraising strategy and execution.
  • Responsible for an assigned prospect pool in collaboration with internal stakeholders and for strategy execution and the achievement of defined performance goals ndash; including faculty
  • Manage an individual prospect pool of 120+ individuals
  • Conduct a minimum of 125 Meaningful Donor Encounters per year
  • Generate 2 proposal per month gt; $25K (minimum 24/yr)
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

Position will have on-site work both in Center City and East Falls campuses as needed.

Bachelorrsquo;s degree or equivalent level of professional experience required

_________________________________________________________________________EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5-7 plus years of direct or related fundraising experience, preferably with experience in higher education or a comparably complex institution.
  • A record of successful individual gifts fundraising including identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of $25k-100k individual gifts.
  • Fundraising experience in the area of individual gifts development, annual or corporate and foundation giving is desirable. Familiarity with planned giving concepts is a plus.

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jeffersonrsquo;s clinical entities or at the University.
