Job Description

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Section Manager in the Finishing Mill maintenance department at our Harrisburg, PA area operation. As a section manager, you can expect to see your work everywhere; the employees you work with every day help to make the steel that is used in building nations.

In addition to working to support the operating departments, team members may also include safety, quality, and maintenance representatives. You will be able to work independently or with teams to develop improvements and creative solutions while looking for opportunities to develop further in your career. Safety and quality are always the first priorities in Cleveland-Cliffs.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead and ensure maintenance, safety, and environmental activities involving the machine shop in support of plant-wide objectives
  • Coordinate the assigned jobs and plant work orders with the machinists
  • Work with plant engineers on repairs, resolve quality problems, and facilitate equipment modifications
  • Work with the plant operational managers to resolve and correct any problems and repairs
  • Assist and work with other MEUIT managers on plant breakdowns and emergency repairs
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge, skills, and abilities in the maintenance of industrial machinery
  • Manage division compliance with Company policies and procedures
  • Promote continuous improvement and standardization of maintenance program procedures, Job Safety Analysis, and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to follow company safety and other procedures.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 3 to 5 years of supervisory machine shop experience in a manufacturing facility (preferred) OR 5-10+ years of supervisory machine shop experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience in Computer Numeric Control (CNC) equipment; Lathes and milling machines.
  • Large machine shop experience a plus.
  • Experience in manual lathes, milling machines, hydraulic presses, and other machine shop equipment.
  • Experience in dissembling and assembling large Industrial equipment.
  • Machine Shop Mathematics.
  • Can interpret mechanical and machine shop drawings.
  • Can use machine shop measuring tools, micrometers, dial calipers, etc.
  • Be able to communicate performance expectations.
  • Expected to work weekends on emergency breakdowns.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, and PowerPoint.
  • Good troubleshooting, and team-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a union environment is preferred.
