Duration 1 year, for academic year July 1, 2024- June 30, 2025

Fellowship Description:

The Farber Hospitalist Division in the Department of Neurosurgery is proud to introduce a new Hospital Medicine Fellowship in Perioperative and Consultative Medicine. This is a unique one-year fellowship for graduates from an accredited Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Residency program. This fellowship will be great for individuals who are interesting in a smooth transition from residency to the role of an attending physician, who wish to transition into academic hospital medicine and/or who are interested in honing their skills/knowledge in perioperative and consultative medicine and medical co-management models.

We are looking for a fellow colleague who is interested in a career in academic hospital medicine

As a fellow, you will have the opportunity to

  • Work with the Farber Hospitalist group, one of the pioneering groups worldwide specializing in medical co-management and perioperative care of neurosurgical, orthopedic spine, ophthalmology and other surgical specialty patients.

  • Kick-start your career in academic medicine with a tailored curriculum based on your select interest in either clinical research, medical education or quality improvement.

  • Receive direct mentorship from faculty member(s) in the Farber Hospitalist group with the goal of promotion to clinical assistant professor at the completion of your fellowship year

  • Become an expert in perioperative and consultative medicine (preoperative cardiac/pulmonary risk stratification, management of medical comorbidities in the perioperative setting, perioperative pain management, management of patients with substance use disorder, vascular medicine and more)

  • Start and develop your Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) portfolio to complete your POCUS certification

  • Become an integral member of the Farber educational committee for continued medical education curriculum development

  • Advance your teaching skills by precepting medical students, nurse practitioner students and medical residents

**The fellow is expected to join as faculty in the Jefferson Health System after completion if the fellowship. Contract details to be explained**
