Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Department: Quality


Summary: We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Quality Control Technician to join our growing organization. In this position, you will maintain quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, finished products, and recording the results. Excellent communication and team skills are a must, as well as a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities - As a Quality Control Technician You will:

  • Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting a visual and measurement test, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approve in-process production by confirming required specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating the required adjustments to the production supervisor.
  • Approve all finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests.
  • Return products for re-work if needed and complete documentation to confirm re-work.
  • Document and update inspection results by completing reports and logs.
  • Inspection of standard fabricated parts.
  • Utilize basic measurement tools to validate parts. (Micrometers, calipers, height gage, thread gage, scales, pin gages, etc.)
  • Process all appropriate job paperwork for in process inspection operations.
  • Assure all inspection equipment is maintained and controlled with the calibration technician.
  • Support inspection of any design changes to assure changes are made correctly.
  • Support any project inspection needs defined by QC management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

You're a great fit for this position if this describes you;

  • You possess a vocational, trade or high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate Degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification as Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) is preferred.
  • 2+ years of related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to become knowledgeable regarding all products manufactured by USSC Group.
  • Proficient at reading drawings and use of hand tools.
  • Must demonstrate competence with the use of precision measuring equipment described above.
  • Proficient in current computer software: MS Applications Word, Excel, and understanding of ERP systems is preferred.
  • Excellent written communications skills, including the use of proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar to produce error-free copy, particularly composing letters, reports and documents used for decision making.
  • Outstanding Oral communication skills including tact and diplomacy which would be utilized during customer service, conflict management, development of relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and diverse projects including, analytical thinking, planning, prioritizing, problem solving, decision making and carrying out assigned projects with minimal supervision.
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced, team environment, under pressure with time constrains while responding and adapting to change favorably and quickly.
  • Ability to think out of the box and work without excessive supervision.
  • Occasionally lifting-up to 50 pounds and standing for up to 12 hours a day is something you can handle.
  • Able to travel if required (minimal travel expected).

  • You bring with you a positive attitude and the ability to work cohesively in a team environment.
  • Help USSC operate effectively by adhering to USSC's attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness.
  • Understanding that you are part of a growing company, you have no concerns with and able to work extended hours/over-time as needed as well as some Saturdays to support that growth.
