Job Description

Opportunity for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to be part of our Research & Development (R&D) team to further our sustaining efforts and incorporate Design for Manufacturability into our R&D designs.

This person is responsible for designing and developing new processes, Optimizing & improving existing processes, selecting and procuring new equipment needed for New Product Development.

This role allows Portescap to improve its responsiveness in meeting customer requirements of Time & Quality on new projects. This role reports into the Sr. Manager of R&D and the position is located on-site in West Chester, PA.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop the assembly process, jigs, fixtures, and gauges for new products associated with motor, gear box, and encoders
  • Work closely with the Design Team to ensure Design for Assembly (DFA) during design process as well as for mapping new manufacturing processes and equipment. Estimate the required capabilities and investment for production volumes
  • Support manufacturing on critical quality process projects to implement new technologies to improve existing equipment/processes for sustainable quality
  • Track and improve rolled throughput yield of new products
  • Responsible for smooth transition of new products from prototype to production stage
  • Responsible for implementing PPAP including manufacturing flow charts, standard work, procedures, route sheets, control plans and FMEAs as prescribed by ISO standards and Regal Rexnord's Business System (RBS)

Critical Competencies

  • Knowledge and hands on experience in the following: assembly process design and development, jigs and fixtures development, process validation, statistical process control, low-cost automation (optional) with poka-yoke and other process capability, and problem solving & monitoring tools
  • Electric motor assembly and measurement equipment concept finalization, selection of suppliers, and procurement activities
  • Hands-on experience in 2D drawing (AutoCAD) & 3D modeling (Pro-E, Solid works) with GD&T. Jigs / fixtures material selection.
  • In depth knowledge of using the problem-solving tools (8D, DoE, C&E Diagram) to arrive at a sustainable solution
  • Exposure to Product Development Cycle (APQP) in an engineering / manufacturing product line from concept to launch, small / medium size / precise products, rotary machines / OEM.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or related degree
  • Five or more years of experience in Process / Manufacturing Engineering - required
  • Previous experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma - preferred
