This position is responsible for assisting with the daily technology-related operations of Simulation. Based in the Simulation Laboratory, this role supports the use of instructional and simulation technology, including facilitating the appropriate instructional, simulation and AV technology. The Simulation Technology Specialist will support simulation educators and health science faculty in the planning and delivery of instructional activities.

Job Description:

  • Works collaboratively with the Simulation Coordinator, Health Science Faculty and colleagues to program appropriate scenarios and physiological responses, creating a realistic and safe learning environment to address program goals and specifications while adhering to recognized simulation standards and protocols in place.

  • Assist with the setup, delivery, and takedown of a simulation experience including creating a realistic learning environment and practicing scenarios prior to implementation.

  • General maintenance and operation of simulation equipment such as mannequins, task trainers, and related laboratory equipment, including technical troubleshooting or arranging for service as needed.

  • Operates and maintains video recording system, and Sim-View for use in instructional recording and debriefing sessions while training and supporting others in its use.

  • The Simulation Technology Specialist may additionally support tours and simulation sessions for internal/external groups and/or individuals.

  • Maintains inventory and records of supplies and equipment as needed for simulation.

  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Pre-placement physical is required.

Hourly Range: $24.0631 - $30.6918 (commensurate with experience)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical diploma/certificate or Associate Degree in technology or health-related field.

  • IT skills involving both hardware and software. Computer proficiency in PC and Mac-based software applications.

License/Certification:

  • Willing to work toward becoming a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS).

  • Ability to interact professionally with faculty, staff, and students.

  • Ability to acquire new skills and learn new techniques.

  • Ability to problem solve and make quick decisive decisions in a changing environment.

  • Ability to manage details, follow through and find solutions.

  • Must be a collaborative, and effective team member and team builder.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires repetitive motion and sitting at computer keyboard.

  • Hearing and speaking on the telephone.

  • Ability to pull, push, bend, grasp, reach and lift up to 20 pounds.

  • Must be able to climb stairs.

  • Ability to move the 200 pound mannequin within the bed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of related work experience in healthcare simulation.

  • Two years of work experience in technology or operations-based role.

  • Experience in nursing or as a paramedic, EMT, or other healthcare-related profession.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year experience on high-fidelity simulation training, multimedia equipment, and/or experience with different types of medical equipment.

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule: Up to 15 hours a week, 33 weeks/year , may require some summer hours.

Monday-Friday requiring flexibility with hours based upon needs. May include minimal evening hours and the occasional Saturday.
