Job Description

Reporting to the AVP of Development, Farber Institute for Neuroscience, the Assistant Director will provide day-to-day management for the Farber Institutersquo;s development related programs. The Assistant Director coordinates fundraising activities, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects.

As a key member of the Office of Institutional Advancement and Farber team, the Assistant Director will work with the AVP and other major gift officers to develop and implement key fundraising strategies, assist in translating institutional priorities into appropriate major gift fundraising programs, collaborate and work closely with physician, clinical, and research leadership in identifying and responding to gift opportunities, and maintain the flow of information about these priorities throughout the organization. The Assistant Director will maintain an active portfolio of key gift prospects and benefactors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • In collaboration with the development team and clinical faculty, support the priorities of Jefferson and the Farber Institute.
  • Personally maintain a portfolio of individual gift prospects, maintaining frequent and consistent contact with prospects, department leaders and volunteers, and key members of Jeffersonrsquo;s administrative leadership. Maintain and manage this portfolio in a manner that fosters a relationship that leads to philanthropic commitment.
  • In collaboration with the AVP and other team members, develop a comprehensive understanding of the educational, research, clinical and financial needs and goals of assigned clinical programs; establish, maintain, and grow a highly responsive and collaborative development program to meet these needs/goals.
  • Responsibility for strategy execution and the achievement of defined performance goals.
  • Manage a prospect pool of 120+ individuals
  • Conduct a minimum of 125 Meaningful Donor Encounters per year
  • Generate 2 proposal per month gt; $25K (minimum 24/yr)

  • Bachelorrsquo;s degree or equivalent level of professional experience required.
_________________________________________________________________________EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3-5+ years of direct or related fundraising experience, preferably with experience in a complex organization. Healthcare experience is a plus.
  • Fundraising experience in the area of individual gifts development, annual or corporate and foundation giving is desirable. Familiarity with planned giving concepts is a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Excellent oral, written, and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with both internal and external constituencies. Comfort communicating with and soliciting prospects/benefactors.
  • Ability to articulate, both written and orally, a compelling case for major philanthropic support for clinical programs, presenting objectives persuasively to potential donors.
  • Experience with fundraising databases/CRMs preferred.
  • Possess the ability to work independently, as well as cohesively as a member of the team.
