The Retail Regional Sales Manager, Midwest is responsible for achieving assigned sales goals and growth through effective sales planning and execution. The Regional Sales Manager will give emphasis to growing share of retail business through the development of new customers as well as the maintenance and growth of existing retail customers. The ideal candidate will have a history of placing new products with new customers, executing organizational initiatives and driving sales of key items for long-term growth. Protein sales experience is preferred. Having a history of success working with customers such as Kroger, Meijer, Hy-Vee, Jewel-Osco, and Schnucks is a plus.

Increase Distribution of Clemens Food Group's Retail Portfolio in Assigned Territory

  • Direct Selling Responsibility for our Midwest Retailers. Namely Kroger, Meijer, Hy-Vee, Jewel-Osco, and Schnucks
  • Sell complete line of Fresh and Value Added Pork across our retail portfolio, which includes Bacon, Ham, Marinated Pork, Sausage, Deli Ham, Fully Cooked Sausage and our Specialty Flow Fresh Pork.
  • Proactively seek sales opportunities for new business and building relationships across the territory.
  • Plans and assists with the development of sales proposals and sales presentations
  • Manages Clemens Food Group's Broker relationships to increase distribution of our retail portfolio
  • Provides sales training to Brokers on new and existing products for sales presentations.
  • Identifies and drives execution of key programs based on retailers' needs and requirements (growth funds, account specific marketing programs, etc.)
  • Prioritize Clemens Food Groups Brands with the ability to understand and prospect large Private Brand/Own Brand Opportunities
  • Utilize syndicated data and all resources to drive new customer sales plans

Maintain and Increase Existing Business

  • Proactively seek sales opportunities to grow existing business and maintain relationships across the territory
  • Meets directly with key decision makers at existing accounts to maintain and increase sales of Clemens Food Group products.
  • Identifies and drives execution of key programs based on retailers' needs and requirements (growth funds, account specific marketing programs, etc.)
  • Identifies threats and opportunities in the categories that we compete in that could affect sales volume, market share, trade efficiencies and profitability to Clemens Food Group
  • Implements and executes Clemens Food Group's sales plans to promote existing product lines
  • Influence and increase Clemens Food Groups touch points across existing accounts. Key focus on Marketing and Ecommerce.
  • Utilize syndicated data and all resources to drive existing customer sales plans

Sales Planning & Process

  • Maintains coordination with integral company functions to ensure sales objectives are met
  • Regularly review performance and KPIs within the territory to ensure we are on track to budget/plan metrics
  • Enter customer activities and communication into CRM are logged
  • Utilize CRM to open and close pipeline opportunities
  • Manage and resolve customer conflict with internal resources
  • Collaborate with Director of Sales/VP of Retail Sales on Annual Budgeting Process
  • Collaborate with Retail Business Managers to create Trade plans
  • Confirm Customer promo activity and collaborate on Forecast for your customers' needs

Education
Bachelors (required)

Experience
4 years: Must have a solid understanding of customer focused and fact based selling, including IRI, Nielsen and Perishable Group data. Understanding of product cuttings - comfort and knowledge of product attributes. Strong negotiation skills. (required)
