Job Description

The Assistant Director will support and collaborate with the Director of the Honors Institute in managing daily operations in person on the East Falls campus with the goals of strengthening and growing the Honors Institute. In addition, the Assistant Director will work on creating, coordinating, supervising and delivering Honors programming and opportunities in consultation with the Director. The Assistant Director assists the Director in student communications, addressing the administrative needs of the Institute, creating Institute data management tools, providing academic advising and mentoring for Honors students, supporting prospective student recruitment, student development, and post-graduate opportunities. Occasional responsibilities outside of typical work week include participation in Open Houses and support of honors programming. Duties also include ongoing evaluations and assessment of outcomes of the Honors Institutersquo;s objectives and goals, teaching Honors First Year Seminar, and supervising student workers

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

bull; Support the Director of the Honors Institute on daily operations, as well as to strengthen and grow the Honors Institute

bull; Develop, coordinate and deliver programming and events to support the Honors Institute and co-curricular Cornerstone requirements

bull; Assist the Director in monitoring and maintaining the Honors Institute, setting its strategic direction and addressing administrative needs

bull; Support prospective student recruitment, student development, and post-graduate opportunities

bull; Provide advising, support, direction and communication to Honors students

bull; Contribute to the research of best practices and competitive information amp; data

bull; Compile and analyze data to support strategic amp; academic planning process and evaluation of initiatives

bull; Coordinate Honors Institute projects, monitor status of action items, develop tracking tools, and prepare presentation formats

bull; Support the execution of curricular development and programming in the Honors Institute

bull; Serve as a contact to faculty regarding Honors curriculum, policies and other related matters

bull; Contribute to ongoing evaluation and assessment of outcomes of the Honors Institute#39;s objectives and goals utilizing university#39;s procedures and assessment tools

bull; Interacts with students, co-workers, visitors, and other individuals consistent with the values of Jefferson

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masterrsquo;s degree Required
  • Teaching experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of constituents, including faculty, staff, students, parents, and external program partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively across cultural boundaries with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs.
  • Experience working with Banner and Canvas systems is preferred.
  • Highly proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Some working knowledge of Adobe software products is a plus.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years administrative experience, preferably in Honors
  • Previous experience working in an academic office with undergraduates preferred
  • Previous experience as an academic advisor to undergraduates is highly desirable
  • General knowledge of undergraduate education, requirements for academic majors, best practices models for academic advisement and mentoring of academically high achieving students, and office procedures required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
