Job Description/Essential Functions:
Horizon House, a non-profit organization, has been widely recognized for its services as a provider of community-based behavioral health, intellectual disabled and homeless services in Eastern Pennsylvania and the state of Delaware. Each year, Horizon House provides a continuum of services at over 100 sites to over 4,5000 adults with psychiatric or developmental disabilities, drug and alcohol addictions, and/or homelessness. A pioneer in the field of community-based rehabilitation, Horizon House is widely recognized for its innovative approach to the delivery of services in a community setting. Currently, we are seeking full time Employment Specialist to work in our Employment/Educational Division.

Some duties to include:
. To teaching individuals the skills necessary to find and retain employment based upon principles of psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery.
. To Identify and assist participants in accessing employment resources in the community.
. To assist participants in career development.
. To assist in increasing ones level of self-sufficiency including an assessment of their strengths and barriers, and identification of strategies and supports to address the
barriers.

As well as other duties assigned.




Job Qualifications:
To be successful one will have:
  • A B.A. Degree in Rehabilitation, the Social Sciences, or a related field and 5 years of experience in employment services and/or psychiatric rehabilitation; or any combination of experience, education or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required.
  • Ability to learn and teach varied job skills and tasks to special needs population.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word, preferred.
  • Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others, as well as at various levels of independence when needed.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Scope:

  • Required sitting for long periods of time.
  • Light lifting and/or carrying, not to exceed 50 lbs.
