Description

There is an opening for a Welding Engineer II for Ellwood National Forge (ENF) in Irvine, PA, however from time to time maybe assigned to the Corry/Warren Plants. This position shows a high level of leadership skills and excels at data management and customer relations. Fully supports and drives company objectives. Takes initiative in all aspects of work and promotes these activities to the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties will be assigned as needed.

  • Manage all welding procedure qualifications from start to finish (includes reviewing requirements, developing quotes, designing qualification plans and monitoring welding).
  • This will be both for new work and to improve old practices as required by management.
  • Learn and understand manufacturing processes and procedures at ENF then work to help improve them by engaging with Quality and Operation
  • Improve efficiencies and throughput in operations by utilizing welding knowledge. Work closely with operations as technical suppo
  • Develop, qualify and maintain the welder qualifications and continuity including monitoring welding, witnessing testing, developing procedures for qualification, improving testing and training practices to ensure all welders are at the highest level possible.
  • Develop new processes, procedures and practices for new project Examples are cladding, combination fabrication welding, etc.
  • Manage R&D projects for product developmen
  • Be the organizational point of contact for technical welding questions/issues/clarification
  • Provide shop support as needed for technical welding questions/issues/clarification
  • Help the quality department to solve problems or come up with corrective actions with regards to the welding process. Also provide support to the quality department as needed in a technical role.

Technical Sales Support

  • Learn all aspects of our quoting/estimating process to understand the internal practices for estimatin
  • Work with the estimating department to develop new strategies for quoting and securing new work from a technical perspective. High focus on developing estimating strategies for new process development Cladding et).
  • Ensure quoting practices are accurate and comply with industry standards and verify this accuracy by reviewing/analyzing jobs in comparison to what was quoted.

General Business Support

  • Provide support as a backup to other roles internally at ENF as business conditions require.
  • Develop processes along with operations to improve production flow including cleaning, preheating, staging of work to be welded and overall provide quicker turn around to our customers where possible.
  • Provide back up support to the estimating department for all estimating requiremen This can be as a fill in or during high quote volume times to ensure timely response to all quote requests.
  • Project Management will be required as needed to ensure timely transition with outside vendors and to meet customer requirements and delivery date

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering Degree Required (Preferred BS in Welding or Engineering)
  • Practical experience with welding in a manufacturing facility (recommend 5+ Years)
  • Must be fluent with computer systems and software (Microsoft Office, Database Systems, etc.)
  • A high level of communication skills required with shop personnel, management, engineering, vendors and customers.
