Position summary:

Job Title: Senior Analyst NA Accounting and Controls

Job Location: Hershey, PA

This position is open for 100% remote.

Summary:

The purpose of this position is to effectively assist in controlling and accounting activities for revenue and expenses within: Gross Sales (Revenue Recognition), Trade Promotions, Returns Discounts and Allowances (RDA's), and Direct Marketing Expenses (DME). Primary responsibilities include accurately assisting in Marketing Expense (DME) accrual analysis, controlling activities around Marketing Expenses, and ensuring financial policies are adhered to in the DME systems. Other responsibilities may include accurately matching the timing of expense with the associated sales shipments, assisting with the trade accounting / reporting function, and maintaining a sound internal control environment. This position will have a wide range of accounting and controlling activites across the Controller's team, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and project work.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Accounting/ Control:

Assist in coordinating the timely and accurate execution of the monthly close process, particularly around DME's. Responsibilities to achieve this objective include monitoring financial systems, auditing/analyzing expense activity, awareness of the impacts of inter-connected systems/processes, and current knowledge of all relevant regulatory guidance; Establish necessary analysis and reporting to identify and recommend reserve adjustments to Senior Financial Management. Assist with month end variance explanations to management. Assist in the development, maintenance and communication of financial and internal control policies/ procedures. Assist in The Hershey Company's implementation of S4.

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

Leverage various systems (i.e. SAP, TPM, etc) to implement specific program and category analysis required to support accruals and reserve adjustments. Provide management with various month end reporting reflecting trends in DME's.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsiblities:

* Proficiency in US GAAP reporting, general ledger accounting and financial management reporting processes

* Strong understanding of internal controls, business acumen & analytical skills

* Strong Excel skills (including Analysis for Office)

* Strong IS / IT skills - comfortable using various systems; motivated to independently research system issues

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with Senior Management and external auditors

* Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into clear, concise conclusions for management

* Highly motivated with problem-solving mentality, intellectually curious, and strong critical thinking skills

* Ability to maintain organization and attention to detail in fast-paced environment

* Willingness to partner and collaborate within the team as well as with adjacent teams

* Flexibility/Adaptability while juggling multiple priorities

* Strong sense of responsibility and ownership

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting. CPA preferred but not required.

Experience:

Minimum 2-5 years progressive experience in finance, accounting, or financial field. Strong accounting background preferred. Controllership experience or marketing expense accounting experience a plus.
