As a Client Service Manager in our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Administration area, you’ll administer complex ESOPs with clients involving highly technical expertise and workmanship. While serving as the key person for several client accounts, you’ll work with key client contacts to handle their ESOP requirements and will build relationships working with C-Suite, company owners, financial executives and HR personnel daily.

As the number-one recordkeeper of Employee Stock Ownership Plans, Principal provides a wide range of expertise and support to our clients serving over 1,000 custom plans involving various levels of complexity. You will proactively assist clients in understanding requirements, plan language and provide a wide range of services and proactive consulting in a talented team environment.

Here are a few examples of things you’ll do:

  • Determine participant eligibility in the Plan.
  • Perform trust accounting and federal mandated compliance testing.
  • Perform and/or lead aspects of the client ESOP allocation, reports, government reporting, participant statements, and distribution/diversification and cash management services.
  • Communicate in all mediums with clients proactively to assist with questions, plan complexity discussions, education, participant data, plan administrations procedures, etc.
  • Develop professional timeline to meet client expectations for all services.
  • Develop a working knowledge of ESOP technical requirements.
  • Create and propose effective solutions to meet client needs.
  • Perform data analysis and prepare financial statements and reports for clients.

Qualifications

Skills required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent. (Accounting or Finance preferred)
  • 6 years related business experience. ESOP or Pension plan design and/or administration experience.

Successful candidates will have the following:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Strong accounting, numerical critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Open to occasional overnight travel (1-3 ties per year) to participate in customer meetings may be necessary.
  • Basic knowledge of plan and contract documents, manuals, procedures, and company products and services.
  • Ability to balance working independently with working in a team environment to meet customer needs and achieve overall goals.
  • Possess a strong understanding of accounting and record-keeping systems and PC applications.
