Job Description


The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine (UPSDM) is accepting applications for a full-time faculty member in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS). The faculty position is in the appointment stream, non-tenured, and the faculty member's rank may be an assistant professor or associate professor, depending on experience and qualifications. The primary responsibilities will include didactic and clinical instruction of students and residents, scholarly activities, and service. Participation in the faculty practice is also expected. We are seeking an outstanding individual with excellent leadership skills to contribute to all aspects of our clinical practice, our educational programs, and the research impact of our institution.

The candidate must have a DDS or DMD degree and be eligible for Board certification, or be Board certified, by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The candidate must possess or be able to obtain an appropriate license for clinical practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, have a developed or developing area of clinical excellence, and have mentoring experience. Favorable consideration will be given to those with additional training credentials such as an MD, Ph.D., fellowship qualification, or other advanced degrees. The salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, experience, and credentials. Desirable candidates will have substantial experience in the research environment, unique clinical talents, and strong mentoring skills.
