SUMMARY

Provide receiving and distribution services of small packages (under 150lbs) and freight (over 150lbs) through a centralized Vicksburg, MS location designated by the Government. Support the receiving of both small packages and freight from carrier providers at the centralized location and the distribution of packages throughout the ERDC Vicksburg locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Upon receipt, date stamp and initial all documents and packages/boxes indicating the day that the items were delivered to the centralized receiving and distribution facility.
  • Unload, log-in, and physically verify all deliveries to ERDC. When logging and inspecting received items, sort by Freight and Small Packages.
  • Responsible for storing, maintaining, and protecting all property items/supplies in connection with the receiving services from mishandling, environmental hazards, i.e. rain, and other negligence.
  • Take all reasonable precautions for the safety of and shall provide all reasonable protection to prevent damage or loss to property items/supplies.
  • Log all receipts in an automated system provided by the Contractor.
  • Maintain separate automated logs for freight deliveries and small package deliveries.
  • Provide the Government reports from the Contractor's automated system electronically at the end of each month from the contractor's automated system electronically at the end of each month and upon request.
  • Verify that the quantity of items received are accurate and in accordance with bills of lading and/or shipping invoices for that shipment.
  • Annotate on the bill of lading/shipping invoice any discrepancies and/or damages. Notify the customer immediately when receiving items that are damaged at the distribution center. Prepare damaged item for return to vendor if the customer chooses not to accept the item after a thorough inspection.
  • Ensure Purchase Request and Commitment Number (PRAC) are annotated on the documents for received packages and parcels prior to their distribution. Forward all completed receipt documents to the site Logistical Support Team accompanied by a memorandum for record in the format determined by the Government.
  • Maintain a log of deliveries with an acquisition cost of more than one hundred dollars. Use a log to document the vendors name, the name of the individual that the item(s) were shipped to, a description of the item(s) to be delivered, the number of items, barcode number (when applicable), date of delivery, and the printed name and signature of the individual accepting delivery.
  • Coordinate and execute the distribution of all received items within three (3) working days.
  • Coordinate and perform distribution services at least twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
  • Maintain a daily log of all items distributed and signatures for their delivery (either the Logistics Support Team or Customer).
  • Secure in a locked storage area all parcels/packages that are not delivered to the end user by 3:00 p.m. on the day of receipt no later than 4:00 p.m. on the day of receipt.

  • Distribute items to both, locations with centralized loading docks and locations without a dock.
  • Notify the site Logistical Support Team of oversize deliveries not feasible to offload at the facility and shall follow the commercial truck to the location of the customer to obtain the packing slip and ensure Engineer (ENG) Form 4866, or a DD Form 250 is signed by the site Logistical Support Team, acknowledging receipt of property at time of delivery.
  • Prioritize HAZMAT to be immediately processed for distribution no later than close of business on the day of receipt.
  • Receive all Purchase Orders from the Government and make applicable file folders and file in Document Number Sequence in a Supporting Document File.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in operating a 5-ton truck and forklift.
  • Experience with receiving and distribution support.
  • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of ERDC.
  • HAZMAT certified.
