Assistant or Associate Professor
Clinical and/or Health Services Research
Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery invites applications for a full-time, 12-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Requirements include an earned Ph.D. degree and a strong record in clinical and/or health services research.
Qualifications:
The qualified applicant will have expertise in clinical and/or health services research with an emphasis on research that demonstrates efficiency, effectiveness, value, and best practices for surgical and non-surgical treatment and rehabilitation for a variety of orthopaedic conditions including sports and degenerative knee conditions, spine, joint arthroplasty, shoulder, hip, hand/upper extremity, foot/ankle and/or musculoskeletal oncology. Qualified applicants are expected to have established evidence of funding to support the Department's clinical and/or health services research initiatives funding. The individual should also be well versed in quality improvement methods and clinical performance assessment and reporting, particularly in terms of treatment and rehabilitation of orthopaedic conditions. The successful candidate will be well-versed in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Peer-reviewed publication and grant funding record commensurate with rank is required.
The applicant is expected to develop an independently funded research program in an area of clinical and/or health services research that is relevant to surgical and non-surgical treatment and rehabilitation for a variety of orthopaedic conditions. Candidates must be willing to collaborate with clinical faculty for joint submission of funding applications. The applicant must be willing to train and mentor junior faculty, doctoral and post-doctoral students, residents, and fellows. The applicant will also provide service to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, the School of Medicine, the University, and the professional community.
